New Habits

While I'm still waiting for my book to come, I thought I'd tell you a little more about my FlyLady habits. These little guys are making some big changes in my home.

For those who don't know-FlyLady is a group of women dedicated to home cleaning/organization and at the same time, by helping women establish routines, simplifying households everywhere. They have morning routines (make bed, shower, eat, hair, face, etc), bedtime routines (pick out clothes for the next day, brush, floss, etc.), mini-missions (15 min. declutter sessions and small jobs that can be done in just a few minutes), and more. My favorite thing right now is the monthly habits.

Each month there is a new habit to work on. Last month it was swish and swipe-meaning to swish and swipe the bathroom. Wipe down counters, mirror, toilet and scrub toilet with brush. My bathroom is sparkly now all the time. I do the kids' bathroom when I'm in helping someone bathe or shower and the downstairs one while I'm doing laundry.

Speaking of laundry-August's daily habit is a load of laundry a day. This is something where a little bit goes a long way. You wash, dry, fold and put away and your done with laundry for the day! Before you know it, you have to go search out things to launder because believe it or not you are all caught up. My laundry room is so clean now. Even with on-going construction around it. Thank you FlyLady and friends!

Side note-I finally bought some laundry sorting organizers. I love them. They keep my laundry room neat and tidy and my baskets free for hauling clothes upstairs to put away. I love going down to do laundry instead of dreading it now and am even more excited because soon it'll be a finished laundry room! Here are my sorters, except mine are blue and white (from Target) :

I have picked up the habit of doing one load of laundry a day and it is awesome! Thanks for all of the info. I will definitely be checking out the FLY lady website soon.

I am definitely going to try the tip with the Laundry! I am so bad at getting the laundry done! It's so funny too because I can keep my house so clean everywhere else!!

Looks like I am going to have to go and check that site out..... I am pretty good about doing the laundry, it's the folding and the putting away that gets me......Keep the helpful tips coming...

I NEED the fly lady. I read through the whole holiday planning guide, and I am totally that lady that cleans her whole house in one day. I choose a room and deep clean it washing walls and baseboards and organizing every nook and crany then the room gets neglected with only a light dusting and vacuuming until the next month when I do it all over again. I NEED the fly lady and her daily tips to keep my house organized all the time. Thanks for all the info. I really hope this works for me!! Her goals are simple enough. And I too, am wondering what else I can launder. My curtains/drapes will be today!

If you can't stand the wait. Call me I will bring my book right over. You can get a head start with my book before yours comes!!

Sounds like the fly lady is something I need to look into!! But just look at not having your book this way. As soon as you get it you will be so into it that you just might not get the chance to do that one load of laundry a day for a few days! I have not bought it yet bc I am in the middle of moving and I just know if I have the book in my home, I will put the moving off for a few days!! As long as nobody tells me how it ends, I can wait a little longer to read it!

I love the Flylady but I couldn't stand to do a load every day. I do mine all up once a week then forget about it. I don't mind doing laundry but every day? No thanks.
Can't wait to see your finished project!

Just saying hi! I checked out the flylady once - maybe i should do that again... good luck with the laundry - I try to do that anyway, esp. in summer when I hang it outside. It's a good excuse to take a few minutes outside and it's really relaxing somehow. now in the winter? ugh. i hate laundry.

I like your laundry organizers! My laundry organizers are still in training. I put colored peices of paper on the floor and my kids sort the laundry by placing it on the corrisponding color. It's a little chaotic, but a lot of fun.
