Go ahead and laugh

..but I just got the rest of my Christmas cards mailed yesterday.
They've actually been done since the beginning of December. There were a few technical difficulties in actually getting them out, and then it was January. I was able to get a few out before Christmas, a few right after New Years and the rest managed to get out before Superbowl. I'm feeling pretty good now.

I Heart Free Stuff

Like this:

And this:

And this is what my kids are doing and have been doing all morning and a good part of what they did yesterday:
The first picture is all the free stuff I got at the Get Down With Scrapbooking charity crop last weekend. Of course that doesn't include the make and take projects and a few embellishments that I had already put away when I took this picture. It was a great weekend and my hubby was awesome to let me have that time to myself. Thanks Jeff! I can't wait for next year's crop.
Next is my can rotator shelving system. Free. My mom found this deal for me. One of the big concerns I have about this current house is where to put well, first my family and their things but a close second is where do I put a one-year supply of food? Not that I have that yet, but we are trying to work on it. My mom food these great shelves and it will work beautifully. A lot of my shelf space in my current food storage area is taken up with cans and cans of things we've purchased at caselots. Now I can fill that space with other good food storage things.
Lastly, my kids have been quite taken with McKay's collection of hot wheels cars and this little loop-de-doo track thing. They group cars by families. Then they rearrange them and group by gender. (I didn't realize cars and families or genders either.) Then they put them in straight lines. Now the games on hold till Lyndsi gets home from school. (Currently they're putting their basketballs down for naps. I am living with creative geniuses here.)

A Beautiful Day

I am having a beautiful day and wanted to share something beautiful with you. I only wish they were real. (Can't you just imagine how wonderful this bouquet would smell?!)

I was thinking yesterday that if I have to put up with cold and snow and wind, at least I'm in Utah. The sun comes out in January here. Lots. Lucky me! I also cleaned my master bathroom yesterday. It's not big, but it hadn't been deep cleaned in a long time. It took me all morning, but it's done and sparkles. Even Jeff noticed. The best part (ok-besides now I'm not scared to take a shower anymore) is that the whole time I was able to keep the window wide opened and never got cold. Today, more window are being opened. Fresh air will be coming indoors. :)

Monday I cleaned my own room. Not as bad as i thought it'd be. Last night we helped the kids clean their rooms. I woke up to a clean main floor. Those flowers are almost as beautiful as that feeling.

Today, it's time to tackle the basement. Dust, vacuum, windex (the TV). It's all gettin done. In fact, it's all done. Except the playroom. That's next on the list.

Wonder what brought on this sudden burst of cleaning? (Because, let's face it. Keeping a neat and tidy house is just not my forte. It's ok. ) It's my vacuum. My old $60 Eureka from Shopko died. I was insistent on getting a bissell. That was the brand of our first vacuum which lived with us in all four of our homes. It was a good friend of mine. Sniff...Ahem.. Anway. We searched out different brands (trying to be opened minded) and price ranges (wanted something good that would last a while) and got our beautiful new (shiny red) Bissell. It cleans my floors wonderfully. When those are done, I am so happy I decide to move on to dusting or making beds or...You get the point.

Life is good. Have a great day. Glad you're my friends!!

Hair Bows

My sister-in-law's sister-in-law makes beautiful hair bows and sells them. I just found out she has a blog so I thought I'd share. For those of you who live in St. George, she sells them at Kid 2 Kid, too. I've looked around a lot at bows and think her prices are pretty reasonable, too. I put the link at the right as well (under Crafts and Hobbies). Enjoy!

The New Year

I love the start of a new year. I feel so refreshed and rejuvenated after Christmas. I also love goal setting and since the days of Young Women's are behind me, New Years has become my time to make and plan out goals for the year. My goals for 2009 are:

1. Go the entire year credit-card-less. (the sub goal here-pay for vacation and Christmas with cash)
2. Train for and run a 10k
3. Study the scriptures more, with an emphasis on Isaiah.
4. Continue last year's goal of organizing my home.
5. Increase my temple attendance.

Sadly, I don't remember my goals from last year other than the famous "lose the last 10 pounds." I am happy to report I did lose close to that.
