WANTED: Guitar Lessons

Will trade violin lessons, scrapbook, or other for guitar lessons. Would like to learn to play like this (especially starting at 2:54. I know it's long but stick around for some AMAZING ivory work at about 3:33-wouldn't mind playing like that either):

Or this at about 2:14(Not his most impressive guitar playing, but I thought the song was fitting-sorry country-haters):

Seriously. I got a guitar for Christmas that I love, but so far my repertoire consists of Skip to My Lou, Clementine and Row, row, row your boat. Impressive? Not really. All 3 songs use the same two chords. HELP!!

Anyone play?

Twi-hard

Ok-I'm feeling a little less than Twi-hard since I didn't hit the midnight release parties last night. But-first thing I thought of this morning (which actually woke me up) was, "I've gotta get to Target!!!!!" I quickly threw some clothes on, brushed teeth and hair and fled-reassuring myself that the store would be prepared for all us crazies who need to own the movie. ASAP. I wondered what the parking lot would be like. Would it be crowded?? Would it be sparse like Saturday mornings at Target should be?? Turned out it was like going in the afternoon. Full-but not overly crowded. Now we all know that Tar-zhay is a classy place. People do their hair, their make-up and throw on their cutest outfits to shop there. It's required. Not one single person looked cute there this morning. Everyone had that freshly rolled-out-of-bed look going on. Most shoppers were women. Most had a half-crazed...shall we say bitten look?...in their eyes. EVERYONE had a copy of Twilight in their hands. I'm so grateful to have taken part in this early morning craze. It brought a smile to my face and a laugh to my lips.

(Yes-Jeff rolled his eyes plenty of times while taking my picture. He did take the picture twice -of his own free will- to ensure the perfect pic for all my lovely readers, though.)

BTW-if you can't get enough of my lovely look-you can catch it all morning at IHOP. Thanks mom and dad!!

Mommy's Little Helper

I like to make to-do lists. Without them I am nothing. My house is a mess. But, really, I don't think much about making the lists. Then Thursday came. I told McKay we needed to work on cleaning the house that afternoon. He grabbed a paper and made this:
Each time he or I did something, it got X-ed off. How cute is he!!

A Few Firsts

Lyndsi lost her first tooth!! She has been looking forward to this even since she started Kindergarten. I, on the other hand, was totally grossed out by the whole idea of pulling teeth. Luckily for me, one night while she was brushing her teeth, it just fell out. Wahoo!
Here is my very first real spring flower. It was actually a week or two ago, but still. Some other color besides brown and greenish-grey-brown was coming up from the earth!!
McKay's met Spiderman for the first time at the Kids Safely Fair last month. This guy was full of energy and made an awesome Spiderman. He did a whole thing on bullying which McKay and Grandpa watched the whole thing. Now if one of his sisters or friends isn't playing nice (or he perceives that) I only have to ask, "What did Spiderman say?" He can repeat back to me all the ideas that he gave and will go try one. Bless you Spidey!!

Inquiring minds want to know...

QUESTION 1:
What kind of portable DVD player do you have?
How long have you had it?
Do you love it?
Would your buy it again/recommend it?

Just trying to figure out which kind I want to buy. Thanks for the input!

QUESTION 2:
Do you rotate your kids toys?
What's your method?
Where do you stash the inactive toys?

OTHER
Feel free to leave any other advice you want. :D

Can I just say...

..That I'm grateful to have been taught to be kind and thoughtful and to not judge others?? I may not be good at these things all the time, but I think people in general don't deserve the lashings they get. I was checking out some books by Jon and Kate (of Jon and Kate plus 8 fame) on Amazon and reading the reviews (1st mistake right there). There were some HORRIBLE accusations and mean things said. I just couldn't believe people would a) say such mean things about people they've never personally met and b) apparently have no interest in their show/life anyway. Think what you will about that show, the Duggars, the Bachelor, religious groups, colleges, celebrities, etc, etc. etc. But lets follow some sound Disney advice, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothin at all." (Thumper's father hit it right on the head with that one.) If we all were just a tad nicer, the world would be a different, better place. Challenge: be a nicer, kinder person today and watch to see how it affects (or effects? never did get that one) those around you and how you feel about yourself.

Disinterested Politics

For not being overly interested in politics, I sure like a lot of political things. For example:
Music:

U2

Muse

Books:

The Uglies (series-Scott Westerfeld)

The Giver (Lois Lowery)

Movies:

The Bourne Trilogy (ok-really this one needs no explanation)

The Interpreter (finding photos for this post I realized should a movie ever be made of U2, Sean Penn would make an interesting choice for Bono)

Hmmm...Go figure.
